Description
The MQA bursary scheme was established to increase the number of learners taking careers in the mining and minerals sector. The bursary will be awarded to students enrolled in careers identified in the scarce and critical skills list, particularly in core mining related disciplines.

Who Can Apply
Bursars entering their first year of study who possess a South African Matriculation Certificate (or an evaluated equivalent qualification) in the subjects and with subject grades that are required by the academic institution (or such equivalent qualification as that the institution may determine), for undergraduate studies. In addition to the above, meet any other entrance criteria as prescribed by the academic. institution. Bursars entering their second or third year of study who meets the requirements as specified in this criteria. Bursaries will be awarded to students enrolled in the MQA identified scarce and critical skills list. Preference will be given to students enrolled in Mining disciplines. Special consideration to female or disabled applicants.
Bursary Levels

Value
The MQA bursary covers full tuition, accommodation, meals and book allowances.
Duration
Bursaries shall be granted for an initial period of one academic year and shall thereafter be renewable annually at the sole and absolute discretion of the MQA.
Service Contract
The MQA carries a service obligation and successful applicants will be obligated to secure employment within the South African mining and minerals sector for the same amount of years as the sponsored bursary.
